BIOMASS PLANTS

Biomass Pelletisation Plants in INDIA

  • Bioenergy (including traditional biomass) is the largest renewable energy source with 14% out of 18% renewables in the energy mix (WEC 2016) and supplies 10% of global energy supply (IEA 2016)

  • India has vast biomass that is currently recycled on to land in between rotation of crops to improve soil fertility, used after drying in biomass fueled boilers in industries for generation of heat and or steam with over 2.5% of biomass for electricity generation.

  • Biomass pellets have 3000 to 4,500 kCal/kg of calorific value which is attractive for power generation plants

  • Currently over 100’s of Biomass briquetting  plants are operating all over India.

  • Demand for pellets over briquettes is increasing due to improved fuel characteristics and higher energy recovery rates, lesser emissions and ease of transport.

  • The pelletisation popularity is growing as densification of biomass into fuel pellets eases the combustion and handling problems normally associated with the bulky nature of raw biomass and briquettes
